Terms All Driving Instructors are bound by a professional code of conduct. Your Instructor will be courteous, polite, tidy and punctual. The car will be well maintained, clean and tidy. All cars used will be fitted with dual controls. The cars are fully insured for driving tuition. Instructors will NOT smoke in the car while giving tuition, nor will they use your lesson time for any other form of business, personal or otherwise. The learner must hold a current, valid Driving Licence (Provisional or Full), which must be produced on or in advance of their fist lesson. The learner must also check that they can read a number plate at a distance of 20.5 metres (i.e. 67 feet, about 5 car lengths) with glasses/contact lenses if normally worn. You must give a minimum 24 hours notice to cancel or change a lesson. Failure to give this notice will result in you being charged for the lesson. Failure to show up for a lesson at the agreed time will also result in you being charged for the lesson. In their own interests learners are advised to be punctual for their lesson appointments. Your instructor would normally wait for a maximum of 10 minutes before the lesson would be abandoned and the lesson fee forfeited or become due for payment. A reciprocal waiting time may become necessary if your Instructor is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Any lesson time lost as a result of this would be made up by your Instructor, either at the end of the normal lesson time if possible, or at a later date. From time to time we are asked to present, for test, someone who is, in our opinion, not ready to take the test. Our response will follow one of the two courses outlined below. We will always, in the first instance, endeavour to persuade the pupil (or parent/guardian that their son/daughter) should not, as yet, be taking the test, and that the test itself should be postponed until a later date. Where there is an insistence that the test will be taken we will refuse the use of the driving school car for that test. This means that the test will have to be taken under your own auspices (i.e. your own car). The DSA take a very dim view of instructors who present, for test, a candidate who is clearly not ready for that test. In either case we will give sufficient notice/advice of this so that no financial loss, in the form of a forfeited test fee, will occur. |
